Looking For An Effective Domain Name

Posted by undrhndr02 on 250 Points
The name of my company is "Jack's Canine Excursions"

The tagline is "Active Dogs Are Happier" (Which I got from a very helpful professional on this site!)

My name is Samantha - last name is long and hard to spell so that's a no go

Here are the domain names that I've tried but already taken (unless if I settle with .net, .org, etc - but don't want to do that): jacks.com, samandjack.com, jce.com, activedogs.com.

I could use jackscanineexcursions or jacks-canine-excursions, but see potential problems with both, such as the two e's in the first one, and possible mis-spellings of excursions.

Please help! Thanks in advance.

Where are you and how far do people travel to work with you?

Hey Jay! You're the man that I got my tagline from! Thanks, I like both of your ideas. What's your opinion on using "excursions"? Somehow I feel like it poses a risk of people misspelling, but I could be wrong.

Hi Gary - I live in Georgetown, TX. I plan to start just in Georgetown and another nearby city 10 mins away, but may expand as far as Austin once it starts growing, which is anywhere from 30-50 miles away.

I wouldn't worry about using "excursions" in the domain name. Most folks will just click on it, not actually type it, so the risk of a misspelling is minimal. Also, you can use a few upper-case letters to make the domain name (and the name of your business) easier to read/grasp ... like this:

    JacksCanineExcursions.com

But, BTW, Jay's suggestion of CanineExcursions.com -- without the "Jack's" -- is shorter/better and doesn't lose any of the important communication value. People are not likely to care if it's Jack's or Samantha's or Igor's. Canine Excursions is really what you are offering, so a focus on [just] that is probably better.

What terms related to your niche are those people most likely to buy from you searching for?
