Need A Name For A New Business Service

Posted by Anonymous on 2000 Points
Hi,

I'm trying to find a name for a new service. The service consists of setting up several tools that will allow someone to:

--capture leads on a website and/or blog
--get instant notification of the information provided by the lead
--easily put lead info in an easy to use but full-featured contact manager
--use the contact manager to move contacts from leads to clients/customers
--automatically put the information in an online email marketing database
--automatically send blog newsletters out to the database
--use the database for email marketing
--access the contact manager online, on a computer or on a mobile device and sync the various devices.

I think this would be attractive to individuals who need to manage the lead generation/sales process for themselves or a small work group. So, it might be interesting to a very small business.

The tools being used are readily available, no new technology is being developed. The key is in combining those tools into a cohesive whole, and doing the initial set up of the tools so it's a turnkey start up.

I can't decide if this is a system, a method, approach, or a.... It's got to be something that sounds like a product.

I can't decide if the audience should be included in the name - like Small Business Lead Management System (a little boring). And, I can't think of a reasonable term for people who work on their own like consultants, online service providers, freelance designers, etc etc

I thought of Sole something. But, is it Sole Practitioner or Professional? And, if that is used, it might leave out someone who could use the system in a small business.

And, if small business is used, it might leave out folks who think of themselves as independents.

As you can tell, I need some help! There may be a very creative way to look at this thing that I'm just blind to. All ideas welcome.

Thanks.

It's not quite clear if this a service (an ongoing process for taking leads for your customers) or a product (a one-time install of software that will automate the lead capture)?

    What's the anticipated price point?

Instead of trying to make the name focus on who you're targeting, why not make the name's focus on the benefit you're providing them?

    For example:
    - Turnkey Lead Capture
    - Capture Your Prospective Customers
    - EZ Online Lead Capture

    Dear KSA,

Hmm. To my ear, the service category you're talking about describes the process of lead capture and segmentation. Online, few people are searching for that phrase but what they are searching for is the term "customer analysis" (without the quotes).

Might this observation offer a little more direction?

    Other points to review are:

    1. Who's your ideal client?
    2. What's their greatest desire or biggest problem?
    3. What's their biggest hurdle or pain point?
    4. What's the embodiment of the "marketing miracle" that will solve their problem?
    5. What's the ointment that will ease their aches?

Your answers to these questions might give you the seeds of the name you're looking for.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

My approach to this would be to interview a dozen people in the target audience, asking them a few high-gain questions and listening hard to the words and thoughts they use as they discuss their unmet needs when it comes to generating and managing leads.

The objective is not to sell them anything, or even to get their direct reaction to your business concept. It's to let THEM tell you what's bugging them today, what they'd ask the genie for when they're granted three wishes, and how they view lead generation and management in the context of all the other issues on their plates.

Your role is to ask the questions, keep them focused on the issues, and take great, detailed notes. Don't interrupt them or let them take control of the interview. Just listen carefully, nod a lot, and take copious notes.

After you've finished 12-15 interviews, step back and review your notes. You'll have a rich compilation of great ideas for the name of the business. And you might even have some terrific ideas for ways to make the product/service better.

Clearly I'd opt for a name that expresses the benefit -- even an emotional end-benefit, if possible. But I'd base the naming decision on what would resonate best with the target audience. And the best way to learn that is to get them to talk to you in a semi-structured way.
