I would never have thought that someone would think I was trying to "show them up". Talk about territorial.

The result of that was incorrect information.

1 if you need any translation done on your project, make sure that the translator is a native speaker.

2 if data collection is outsourced, make sure you have an independent way of verifying that the interviews actually took place.

    3. make sure that incentives, samples, and any other materials you are sending abroad are not going to be charged duty on.

    4. protect your profit! We are a Canadian research firm that works with many companies from USA. In the past year, we have lost a considerable amount of money due to a falling US dollar. Include clauses in your bids and contracts to protect your bottom-line from currency fluctuation.

I would say that number 4 would be my most unexpected / unpleasant experience.

To answer your question, the CLIENT questioned the information we received from that country. The CLIENT knew it couldn't be right so I had to confront that country manager and explain how he could cost us the deal.

Keep in mind, that not everyone in the same country will be as territorial...but certain areas of the world are more prone to "protectionism"
