Looking For Mailing Addresses For Direct Mailings

Hello everyone,
I am looking to gain access to mailing addresses for direct mailings, I am on a tight budget and dont have the money to really spend on a lot of mailing lists. I am looking to get pretty specific in the addresses I looking for. My market niche is apartment dwellers so I am looking to only find apartment unit addresses if that helps any. Are there any sources you all are aware of which offer this sort of information for free? If not where do you recommend I go to find this information? When analyzing the marketing efforts effectiveness, how do you feel direct mail compares to the effectiveness of door hangers placed on the door knobs with my advertisement?

    Hello,

    You do not want a cheap list!! Why? Postage is your greatest cost in DM. A cheap list means it has not been updated against the National change of address. In plan english that means 20-50% of your mail will not reach its intended destination. Renters are highly transite so quarterly updates are a must.

    The minimum list cost is about $250. That is about 1000-2000 names. This is just an estimate.

    Let me be blunt: If you are not going to make a commitment to DM you will fail!! If you think that one mailing will do it and that is it, you are wasting your money. This is true with any form of advertising.

    Want cheap and accurate? Go to the apartment management company and offer to split postage for any mailings they do....if you can do an insert.
