Survey Vendors

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I need to conduct a survey, but am on a really short deadline with a really small budget. Understanding the limitations of email/we-based surveys, I suspect this is the direction I will have to take. I have a list of email addresses, but do not want them to go out with the name of our company as this will bias the results even further. Do vendors like Zoomerang, C-Vent, and Survey Monkey support blind surveys? What vendor or vendors would you recommend for this kind of project?

You can probably use either Zoomerang or Survey Monkey for this purpose, but there are a few issues you should think through. First of all, respondents may likely wonder how you got their email address if your company isn't identified. What can you tell them that will address this issue? Are you going to use an incentive? How can that incentive be fulfilled and still be a blind study?

In order to minimize bias, you may want to use an independent researcher and have them be the sponsoring party of the survey. It may cost a little extra, but there are a lot of good reasons to go down that path, one of which is a greater sense of objectivity and a reduced tendency toward bias.

You may also want to think through this project analytically because that may, at least partially, determine the vendor you use. Be sure to look at their analytical and cross-tabbing capabilities so that you can maximize the opportunities and limitations that may exist when you want to mine your data for segmented insights and analysis.

    Good luck!

Based on your timing, yes, it sounds like you need an online provider. We use Cvent and love it. You can send a blind survey and set it up however you would like. The cost is similar to SurveyMonkey, but we found that Cvent's customer service was the most helpful. Good luck!

With my last company, SurveyMonkey was the tool of choice. It is an efficient tool with numerous question types. If you need someone to assist with survey setup or SPSS programming for the analysis, please feel free to send me a note.
