What Are The Best Social Media Measurement Tools?

Im doing some social media research and wantend to know if anyone knows of some good measurement tools to effectivly gague social media effectiveness? Also any other tools to measure social media use would be great. I'm also looking for a way to rate social media site perferably by user preference. Any help with this would be greatly approciated

    This answer will be very different for various categories and companies - a lot will depend upon your target market. If you are looking to use social media for linking to a website, you can use Google Analytics. In terms of determining what is effective, you should measure that over time to see what works best for your individual situation. Any comparison you make to the success others have had won't necessarily be "apples to apples", but you can see where you get the most success by tracking activity.
