Marketing Plan Survey Questions

Posted by Michel on 250 Points
Hi,

Thanks to everyone involved in this Q&A

I am doing a marketing plan for recently launched hair care products for my mothers business and I do not have access to a lot of secondary data so I will have to use surveys to help me get the data I need for the various parts of the marketing plan.

My first targets will be the customers who come to my mothers salon. I need to get demographic data from them but I also need to ask them questions which will help me fill in the various parts of the marketing plan. Does anyone know the QUESTIONS I should ask (by section of the marketing plan) these customers who will now begin to use the new products?

You should ask some general questions such as what hair products they currently purchase, where they purchase them, how much they pay and how often they purchase.

Also you'd want to show them your product, ask them to review the product (ask about what benefits the product has - as shown on the package, how it compares to other products they currently use and how much they would expect to pay).

Main thing to keep in mind is to not ask too many questions - you don't want to turn off customers from your mom's business. Keep the interviews brief and consider offering something in return for their participation.

If you have email addresses for all of your mom's customers, then you could run the survey on one of the free web survey tools like SurveyMonkey.com or Zoomerang.com.

It might be important to capture respondent demographics and category use. One final thing, don't ask any questions that you can't actually use.

    Good luck,
