Link Between Plc & Strategic Fit Analysis

i can't understand that if i study product life cycle for a product, how it will help me in doing strategic fit analysis? PLC is related to stages in life cycle of a product and strategic fit relates to the fit between resources and strategies..

    The resources required for success do differ across the PLC, so certain companies have specfic strategies tied to th PLC stages. For instance, 3M has the best fit with the introduction stage, while Dell is better suited for the maturity stage
