How Can I Follow User Movement On My Website?

I like how Amazon keeps me logged in and sends me email based on what products I've searched or looked at. I also really like how navigable the site is, and how it connects me to other customers. I am building my own auction site and would like these functionalities in it. Anyone know a tool or platform that can do this?

    Thanks! Meanwhile I found CoreMetrics and Experian. I liked CoreMetrics more and wrote them on Sunday and again on Tuesday... and got not a whisper in response! So I've called today (Thursday) and left a message.
