Radio Station Metrics

Posted by ora on 250 Points
What resources are available to get a handle on the market share of a specific radio station? Is it possible to get data about a specific time of day? I have an opportunity to become a radio show host for a cost. I'm trying to determine what I need to know and where to find the information before committing.

Start with your objective. What does success look like for you?

When you say you "have an opportunity ... for a cost" do you mean you have to pay for the opportunity, or that you have to give up something else that is important to you?

None of this really deals with your question about market share for a radio station, but it's not clear why that is, or should be, an important metric or consideration in making your decision.

Perhaps we can help you better if you share what's really at issue for you. If you learned that this radio station has a 25% market share during the 6-10 a.m. time slot, for example, would that be critical to your decision? If so, how did you determine the share cut-off? Why?
