I'm looking for some data that indicates whether autopopulated customer forms get better completion rates.

Thanks!

Anecdotally, anything you can do to reduce "friction" for a prospective customer improves response rates.

This should be an easy thing to test.

My guess: Auto-population will increase completion rate. But even if the completion rates are the same, what's the risk from auto-population? Are you concerned it will LOWER the completion rate?

Yes, I do expect that it will improve completion rates, and there is likely no down side. What I need is help justifying the cost/effort of enabling autopopulation. Any data on this that any can provide would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

The improvement is dependent on the motivation of your customers (or potential customers). There is no good way to apply someone else's numbers. As has been suggested, you must test this yourself. Then you'll have irrefutable numbers to drive your quantification of the cost/benefit.

Why not come at it by showing the value of a range of possible results -- best case, expected, worst case. (Perhaps completion rate increases of +2%, +5%, +10%, etc.) If the investment pays out under the worst case scenario, then it would be a worthwhile investment.
