On-going Successful Opt-in Marketing Campaigns

I am looking for documentation on successful email marketing campaigns, specificly related to opt-in marketing, and the technology industry. I have documentation from more consumer related industries, just lacking anything related to IT. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

    Just to ensure that we're going to be talking about the same thing, are you describing a situation where the company already has an opt-in list that it has developed on its own, or are you describing the use of rented permission-based lists?

    There is going to be a world of difference in the "success" of each...
