"Have you ever been confused about how to use your website analytics and how to maximize the value you get from them?" asks Adrian Mott at the HubSpot blog. If so, he continues, you're not alone: "many Internet marketers are often baffled about how to best utilize the data they glean from their analytics."

To enhance the effectiveness of your inbound marketing efforts, Mott suggests, use your data to uncover the following:

  • The most popular terms used in organic searches. Analytics reveal which keywords people use when arriving at your site from search engines. "If you want to improve on a particular keyword," he says, "create more content, optimize it around that keyword and try to get that content linked to."
  • The conversion rates for landing pages. "If you're not measuring how effective your offers, calls to action and landing pages are at converting your website visitors into leads," he argues, "then you're not giving yourself a knowledgeable way of improving."
  • The number of inbound links and indexable pages. According to Mott, the key to high search-engine rankings on your targeted keywords is an ever-expanding volume of indexable pages. "How do you accomplish this, you ask?" he says. "Simple: blog often."

The Po!nt: With minimal effort—and Mott's advice—you can make analytics a daily element in your marketing program.
