"The networking company Cisco Systems is celebrating 25 years," writes Meryl K. Evans in a post at the B2B Social Media Digest. "Can you believe the company didn't exist before 1984?" True, it's hard to imagine a pre-Cisco world.

Evans argues that the company's smart use of social media plays a big part in maintaining its worldwide presence—and success. Cisco staff, she writes, update content regularly and engage with audiences at five touchpoints:

Corporate newsroom. The corporate newsroom takes the form of a blog with the latest news. "It also seamlessly integrates Cisco's other blogs, giving visitors a quick overview of each," Evans notes.

Twitter. The @ciscosystems Twitter feed tweets news and information about Cisco and its executives. The account's bio includes a link to Cisco's support page.
