What are the books, and Who are the authors that get you AMPED to be in the field of Business?

Personally I'm a fan of the Donald (The Art of the Deal is a classic), and I also like to apply Eastern Philosophy to business for it's ability to not only draw parallels between warfare and business, but also its ability to bring clarity and stress relief after a long tough day. (The Art of War by both Machiavelli and Sun-Tzo, as well anything by the Dalai Lama, or Thich Nhat Han.)

Anything by Seth Godin or Jay Levinson.

Also, "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by Robert T. Kiyosaki makes you want to throw down the book and start your own company immediately.

There are lots of others which I am sure everyone will cover, but these are at the top of my list.

    Good Luck!

I'd reccomend the book of Proverbs, "How to make friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie, and any Tom Hopkis sales book.

One of my favorite articles which has been published as a short book is "A letter to Garcia", a copy of which can be found here: https://www.ec47.com/garcia.htm

The first two books that gave me a clue (early eighties) and started my journey in branding, positioning and measurement.
    1. Al Ries & Jack Trout: Positioning, The Battle for Your Mind
    2. Bob Stone: Successful Direct Marketing Methods

Seth Godin: Purple Cows and all

    And a bit of a sleeper --
Christopher Lorenz: The Design Dimension, Product Strategy and the Challenge of Global Marketing

Michele, you beat me to it! Ten years ago I read Charles Handy's "Age of Unreason" and it was the key reason I decided to leave the corporate org chart and strike out on my own. I'll have to find the Raincoat book (new to me).

    Seth Godin's e-book on Bootstrapping is a real forehead-slapper.

I also admire Gary Hoover, who started Bookstop stores and later Hoovers.com. He's written a pretty good book about being an entrepreneur, but he's way more infectious in person! (In a GOOD way, I mean.)
