How To Develop Balance Score Card And Use It Effectively

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
It is easier said than done in developing the balance score card and use it effectively. Books that describe the balance score card is very detailed but I am looking at getting started with a simple one and moved on to a more complex one once we are into the grove.
Having to implement the BSC with complex matrix would fail and I am looking at getting people to get used to the processes and make it work.
Please suggest to me how I could assist myself and my staff to develop a simple effective BSC and make it work. Performance measurement guide would be helpful too.
Thank you.

This is the area I practise in 24/7... almost!

BSC can be very simple once you have developed your strategy. Have you developed a set of objectives yet?

Then map your strategy - feel free to e-mail it to me for input (go via my bio to my website - the roundabout route is necessary to avoid spammers).

Develop measures per strategic objective. Just figure what quantitative/qualitative measures make sense for each objective. Then work out where that data will come from. You can arrange it in an Excel worksheet.

Just remember, Balanced Scorecard is a strategy implementation and performance management tool. You use it to implement strategy, not to develop it. Strategy development requires far deeper thought and consideration. BSC comes in after you have done all that hard work.

Good Luck - and feel free to contact me for any further help you may need.
