Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
need out of the box ideas for promoting a new tv digital channel covering the nostalgia theme. Demo is A 25-54.
Ideas need to cut through the clutter of current TV promotions: be innovative, effective and cost effective. Let's not go for the traditional but think in terms of bingo halls, shopping malls, experential, etc.

    Hello,

    1. Music: The Beatles and Elvis Presley. Give music and show concerts are always an excellent incentive.

    2. Family: The contest should be related to find the biggest family, the oldest person, the biggest school group,..

    3. Movies: You can give clues during the show in order to participate for prizes (ex: Bingo game).

    4. Games: Incentive the competition against generations (40's, 50's, 60´s, ....)

    5. Interactive TV: A big interactive contest where everybody could participate (by Internet, phone,..). Knowledge movies topic.

    6. Fashion shows: The nostalgia should be marketing like a fashion.

    Bye,

    Juan Carlos

Ever seen Brini Maxwell on the Style network?

Whatever the event you choose, invite some transvestites or drag queens who have a persona that fits the decade you are targeting as nostalgic.

If Gene Hackman can show up in a dress a la Birdcage... why not try it at a promo event?

I think I would go with humor based commercials.

One could be a bunch of girls with "mall bangs" , smacking gum, "like, like, like" and spraying hairspray everywhere with Duran Duran playing in the background.

A 50's greaser gang bring knives to a gun fight with crips.

A bunch of 30-somethings sitting around a Scrabble game, eating fondue and arguing over words.

Some nerdy kids playing one of those sitdown Donkey Kong videogames at a pizza parlor get splatted with pizza by a bunch of heavey metal dudes with Metallica patches on their jean jackets.

    ROLLER SKATING RINK!!! Enough said...

A group of hip, urban youth talking ebonics to a group of 1920's mobsters and vice versa (neither understand what the other is saying)

    Stuff like that..

The ones where different time periods clash could be used to advert for a "Culture Clash" or "Worm Whole" show where you comare "Greasers to Crips", "Roller skaters to modern day sk8 dudes", "Board games to Video games", etc.
