Launch Date Of Website

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
We are trying to determine the launch date of a new website and cannot decide between Dec 1, 06 or Jan 1, 07.

Any recommendations/ideas as to why/why not of the above would be greatly appreciated. The website is not a product site, but an informational site, so no products would be sold.

Some of the comments recieved about both dates was 1) Dec 1, 06: People will be busy doing other things and there are so many websites out there that will be trying to get their "attention" and

2) Jan 1, 06: Just after the new year, most people are still on vacation anyway, but that does not mean they will not be utilizing the web.

If another date inbetween those two would be better, that would be helpful also.

Launch (as Jerome says) ASAP and start ads and marketing January 10 or so when people are back on the web.

    The sooner the better...
Another point to consider is there are many people who are off work and spending time online during the holiday season. Why not take advantage of the phenomenon?

    Why wait?

Sooner the better, to join the chorus. Or is there something you aren't telling us? Will it cost heaps more to be ready by 1 December?

OK, the sooner the better, within economic reason... If it will save ten grand to delay a couple of weeks, let it go.

But better launch sooner and start to monitor response, and maybe generate revenue, than to spend forever on gold-plating it, and launch six months later.

The first website you launch will not survive long before you will want to start to change it.

    Hope that helps.
