Guerrilla For Recruiters

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
Hi All,

I'm working at a recruitment agency and we're trying to establish the company as focused on candidates. Having in mind the shortage in people applying for open positions we'd like to attract candidates through some new channels. Do you have any ideas for non traditional methods for reaching students, candidates and working people?

Thanks,
Maggie

Why not set up a table at lunchtimes in a cafe in the business district you are serving, with a sign that says "XYZ Recruitment Agency - talk to us about careers today"?

You could pick a different cafe each day for five days, returning weekly to the same spot. You'll have to arrange to be able to do this with the cafe owner. They may even agree to put a flyer or business card in with take-out orders, to get you more website visits and signups.

This gets you out there in the marketplace in full view of potential candidates. You might have to do it for a few weeks to start getting action - people may be a little unnerved before they become intrigued enough to approach you.

    What do you think?

If there is a college or university nearby the client or with specialties in the subject needed, contact them to be included in their recruitment days. Students near graduation come to talk and listen. Also colleges have newsletters and you can buy ads or offer a story.

Some good ideas above... I'm curious, you say you are "focused on candidates" - and I'd like to know more. In what ways are you "focused on candidates"? How do you feel that you are more "candidate focused" than other competitive agencies? And, what benefits does this "focus on candidates" provide to folks who work with you?

If you are looking for students and newly graduated, i would put up a spot on myspace. Engineers, Industrial Distribution and lots of other technically related fields are relatively easy to attract and get information out to.

LinkedIn is a good professional networking source as well. (www.linkedin.com). I would establish a profile in there for your company as a recruiter. Also look for locations to hit after hours (happy hour) much like the lunch idea by ChrisB.
