Business Venture Advise For A 7 Year Old

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
My 7 year old son has been bugging me for quite some time to help him start an internet business.

I thought it might be a good lesson in business, so I agreed. He decided he wanted to do a Lego site and sell Legos. I set up a blog for him on blogger. He made up a domain name and created a tagline. He is making video lego reviews, making and sharing lego creations, and giving out lego tips. ( I actually think he is pretty good - but that could just be me being a proud mom).

I saw that you could become an affiliate of Amazon, so we did that and created a lego store. I also put adsense on there for him.

Now of course we've got to get people to come to the site. We just put up the site up last week, which is at https://www.LegoAdventures.com .

What suggestions do you have to let people know of this site? I want to keep things somewhat 'anonymous' for general internet safety.

Do you have suggestions?

Thanks,

His mom

    Mom,
You want to keep it anonymous but ping it through tecnorati and show your face of little Einstein on video and on YouTube...Search 'submit it' on google/yahoo and you will find thousands of sites that will submit your site for free. Inclusion to major search engines will take some times though. Paid inclusions give much faster results but are quite expensive.

Ignoring your son's age, why would strangers be interested in visiting his site and giving him money? Is his business simply being an affiliate or does he sell his creations (either models or directions for building his models)?

I'm sure he can get traffic - especially from other kids. First - the YouTube videos should have his website shown throughout the video.

I'm assuming his blog has been submitted for listing. If not, check out sites such as: https://www.toprankblog.com/rss-blog-directories/ and https://www.blogsubmission.com/

His site is heavily video, which is a problem for web search engines. I would encourage you both to create a summary of each video for those that can't watch the videos and web spiders.

Do a little SEO - what are people searching for with the word Lego in it?

    Create a page on https://mocpages.com/

Upload images to Club Lego https://club.lego.com/en-US/default.aspx

You should be very proud of him and of yourself for enabling him. This is really fantastic. I would do some PR releases and get them sent out to various press, local and national. This is a news story.

Also have him make some flyers and be sure they are distributed at school.

Try to get some link exchanges. That is, you put a link on your site and the other website your link on yours.
