Starting An E-newsletter For The Tg

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Hi ,
I am Sadhvi , an enterpreneur-- i am running an executive search firm majoring into middle & senior level recruitments.

i am keen on starting an e- newsletter for my TG ie the HR managers & HR directors of various companies.

I would appreciate if you can spare some time in helping me out with the following:

1) Name of the e-newsletters -------- something catchy and relevant

2) What should form the contents??

3) Sample / template if any

i look forward for your replies on the above.

Thanks
Sadhvi

Instead of starting an e-newsletter, maybe start a blog. It helps you in 2 ways. First the contents are webpages that can be found in search engines, so people that do not know your company can more easily find you. Second, your subscribes can receive the articles by either RSS or email, so it is more flexible for your audience.

e-newsletters you send to people on your list, and it arrives in their email inbox.

blogs you publish from your desktop, and people find it by searching online and/or subscribing (via RSS) to your "blog feed".

Blogging software is free, and if you already have a website, you could integrate it into your site. Alternatively, you can simply get started (free) using the software on a blogging site (wordpress, for example) - in only 5 min, but the domain name of the blog would be different from your website's (and is less ideal).

Blogging is easy, once you get the blog setup. Same process as writing a newsletter. In fact, you can do both. Create your blog entry, and then email a link to it for everyone in your email list with a teaser.

The key questions: name, content, etc. are based on who you're trying to attract, what problem you solve, and how you're unique. Given the market you're in, you need to create a professional product to make sure your brand speaks trust & quality.

    1) Name of the e-newsletters -------- something catchy and relevant

This is something you need to work on yourself, as I don't really know anything your potential clients and what motivates them.

I could fire a few ideas your way, and some might be very catchy, but in the end will it click with your target group? I can't say.

    2) What should form the contents??

Same as the above point. You should be tailoring the contents to your audience's needs, not to what the folks here "thinks" will resonate with your audience.

In a nutshell, what I'm saying is you should spend more time figuring out what resonates with your TG. Talk to them, ask them questions.

As you begin to solidify your research, you'll probably discover these two questions will answer themselves.

There are indirect ways to research your TG too. Look at competing newsletters, visit websites of your competition, ask job seekers who use Head Hunters for their insight, go to conferences, career fairs, find online forums specific to executive search and participate in the discussion.

This is a marketing forum, so you'll get marketing advice. For executive search specific questions, like the ones you've posted here, join a forum where those experts hang out.

I'm not being curt, but you can imagine how hard it is for someone who is not a subject matter expert to answer subject specific questions.

Okay, I'll toss a bone. How about "Hire Ground"?

In terms of blogging vs. newsletter, I'm glad to hear you are considering both.

    Best of luck!
