Radio Promotion Ideas

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I work at a traditional family amusement park open during the summer months. Many radio stations schedule days to come into the park and do a live show. Some are good, like a morning show that hosts their listeners for the 'first ride' on the new ride that season, and some aren't so good, as in the broadcaster sits on a stage and just does his show with no audience interaction.
I have found that giving them a topic or focus for the day works a little better at getting them to be more interactive and do contests that are fun to participate in and watch. For instance, if we already have a special event scheduled in the entire park, the station has a built in topic to focus on or to build content/contests around.
I am looking for some new ideas, contests, events or competitions to give as options for the stations to do this summer at the park. Any ideas are appreciated and welcome.

Hi. Most amusement parks haver really exciting names for some of their rides. Is there any way you can make a play on the names of those rides? Like maybe call on people to create new "tag lines" for each of the major rides. That way you are building excitement for the rides as well.

You can create a scavenger hunt or a treasure hunt in the park. Depending on the size and scale of the park, you may want to do a co-op contest with other local businesses.

    Good luck!

Raising the real/common problems of people regarding their living in a particular area on radio can serve the purpose of taking the problem in the eyes of authorities so that it can be solved, n also to involve them on radio so that its PR can increase.

I am looking for specific ideas that involve our guests, for instance- we do a hot dog eating contest during a patriotic-themed event, we have a sports station that has listeners play all the sports games around the park in an hour and gives prizes/tickets to the winner, and we have another rock-centered station that did a guitar hero challenge on our stage (very visual and fun).

We've done record breaking stuff, but some of it is hard for the audience/public to see, and they can't really get involved except to just watch- not real interactive.

Creating tag lines is a good idea for the web, but won't work in the park- it isn't visual-- but it would be fun for some pre-season hype.

Scavenger hunts/treasure hunts sometimes take our guests where we don't want them to be- but we have done one with cell phone photos before that went OK. Again, sometimes these just aren't fun to watch, since everyone pretty much heads out in their own direction to find the items.

Thanks for all your suggestions, and keep them coming! Any idea you provide may spark another for me :)
