I always prefer company names to say what you sell. Highly financed companies can have cute names that mean nothing when they have money to let people know what they sell.

So my first thought is: Dog beds and clothes, which has an open URL to register right now. You could put a cute name in front, but not part of the URL. i.e. Poochies! Dog Beds and Clothes. visit us at, dogbedsandclothes.com

I would actually try to create a brand and label that speaks volumes about your niche (why you are different and more cooler). I think the dogbedsandclothes offered by Schulte would be a good redirect link to your branded site.

I agree with Schulte that you don't want a name that means nothing. But I have to disagree on having a name that says exactly what you do.

The cute/catchy name will work a whole lot harder at building a brand and generating awareness (without a huge marketing budget) if it is clearly focused upon your target market and what they get from purchasing your products.

The right name will help you cut-through and will ensure that you are not mistaken for a competitor.

Re the idea of having the functional/descriptive domain re-direct to your real URL - do keep in mind SEO and designing your site to ensure that you are found through all the relevant keywords - not just because someone has remembered your specific web-address...
