Rfps And Resumes

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Our contracts department would like to include resumes of the executive staff in each and RFP response. I'v heard of including bios, but not resumes? Is this standard? Is there a specific template to follow besides a resume format?

A resume is kind of private -- really it is how people set themselves apart when competing for jobs. Posting a resume on a website or company site is like revealing an ad campaign to the competition before the campaign is launched. Yes, a bio is for the public to view. Leave resumes between the HRM and the the person applying for the job.

Resumes should never be used in a corporate setting, whether as part of a proposal, press kit, or "AboutUs" web page. Resumes are used by an individual when applying for a job with an employer, not for winning contracts.

Where a resume typically might present a company-based chronology for each executive, a bio should be a summary of experience and results that directly relate to the project you're pitching.

You need to prove to your prospective clients that your team has the necessary skills and experience, and has generated results for other clients. So take each resume and turn it into a summary of important experience, past projects, past employers, past results, thought leadership (articles written, speaking engagements, patents, etc.).
