Mother's Day Ideas For Deli

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We are family owned deli and grill looking to capitalize on the fact that Mother's Day is a huge dining out day.

It would be inconsistent with our theme (rock and roll) to suddenly take up doing a brunch so I have been trying to come with an idea that would be family friendly, appealing to Moms, yet unique.

Ideas that come to mind:
* "Mom's Rock!" with family friendly Karaoke. Kid friendly musicians. Obviously I need the idea asap to make it all come together in time for pr and necessary promoting.
* "My Mom Rocks" essay contest....win a meals, but it seems overdone. Help?

As a marketer and a mom that loves rock 'n roll, here are some ideas...

    1) Mom's Day to Star -- Karaoke with only Rock Music
    2) Mom's Day to Rock -- Rent a juke box (if you don't have) and only mom's can pick the music
    3) Why Have Mother's Day Only Once -- Come in Mother's Day and get a voucher to come back again in two weeks...dinner for mom on the house (drives repeat)
    4) Mom's Little Angels -- Have flowers on hand that kid's can give to their moms and vases on the tables as "centerpieces for the night"
    5) Mom's Get a Gift-- Set up a cool craft area to keep the kids busy and create gifts for mom that they can take home. Beading, Coasters from old CDs, etc. Keeps kids busy while waiting for the food.

Just some ideas, might spark others.

    "Mom's Deli Day Out"

This is a gift card for families to buy Mom yet gift themselves also! For Mom it is a get out of Jail card to Rock a bad day away. For Dad and the chill-uns remember if Mom ain't rocking than bad times are a stalking!

Best I could do on short notice. Barack the vote also!

I congratulate your marketing prowess already!

I recommend a book Called "Marketing your Services for people who hate to sell".

It is like a bathroom read. Thousands of great small ideas.

One ide I got from them is what you are doing, a promotion for evry holiday, change of weather, season,
    groundhogs day, political race etc.

You could have a mothers day dance contest, That could get you some free publicity.

    Song writing contest

A guitar hero contest. That would be fun to watch, The kids would be interested.

Since Mothers' Day brunch has top-of-mind with many people, how about positioning your promo as making dinner easy so mom can take the whole day off?

Be careful about contests involving kids--that can make more work for moms, especially if the kids need to dress up, make something or write something.

How about a tribute to rock-and-roll moms? Either rockers who are moms (like Madonna, Cher, etc.) or moms of famous rockers who have some claim to fame on their own. Great for trivia questions and online quizzes where everyone who enters gets a free coupon.

You could also run a dessert special called "Miss American Pie" with all kinds of great pies.

You might even get local rockers to pose for publicity photos with their moms in web video clips. If you give every mom who comes in for dinner a signature promo item--like a "Moms Rock!" oversized Mothers' Day card in the shape of an electric guitar--you can also videoblog the winners and post the clips to your site. (Make sure you get permission.)
