Securing Advertisers For Internet Radio Show

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I have a successful weekly Internet Radio show (reached #1 on Women's Network in 8 weeks and still there) but no advertisers. After 40 shows (rebroadcast over 7 times a week) with over 10,000 listeners per show, I need advertisers to help fund the show. One hour format is also downloaded via iTunes over 6,000 times per month. Question: How do I go about getting advertisers? What are they looking for in a marketing plan? Who do I approach to get as advertisers? It is hard to ask what you don't know!

Ten-thousand listeners is an audience -- I am surprised no one has contacted you. Are the listeners there because there is no advertising diluting the show. If that is the case you may need less obtrusive advertising in your show. Maybe a personal plug and that's it. Place a banner and landing page on your website that advertises that you sell advertising time on air in an unconventional manner.

Perhaps invite an advertiser that you know will appeal to your target audience and conduct an interview with them. You could even work up a sponsorship package as it seems that you have the audience numbers.

From an advertisers point of view they will think what is in it for them eg. sales in return for their support.

    Best of luck

Why not put out the call for advertisers on your radio show? You have 10,000 fans who no doubt know someone who would benefit from exposure on your show.

Here's an outside the box sort of thing....

Skip the middle man (person) and sell your own products. I will use a musician friend of mine as a for instance. He looked for a sponsor for his tours and was told he wasnt commercial enough. He began promoting cruise at each of his 120 live shows per year. Turns out he makes more money on the cruise than on his actual touring shows. Same goes for any device you like and mention... just find a supplier and bring the business to them. Getting a cut of the selling rather than an advertising fee.

Interesting ideas, have asked on the show for advertisers, banner ad on websites. Does someone have a sample of a plan or outline that can be used to approach the advertisers?
