How To Get Tourism Businesses Into Wedding Blogs

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Besides buying ads, I would like to get a few of our high-end tourism clients featured on some blogs, specifically wedding related blogs. What do you think is the best way of doing this? Guest blogger? reply to existing blogs? etc.

How effective do you think this tactic would be for generating bookings our clients?

Any info would be useful ..

Thanks!

Be Like The Fonz, and you can pull it off...

If you're super cool about it, and build a rapport in that blog for a bit first, you could mention it.

    Rules to remember:

    1. People hate being sold to.

    2. You will be blacklisted immediately if you occur to the BLOG's owner or other community members as some random salesperson.

    3. You must be adding REAL value to the conversation if you want to plant marketing seeds.

So...that said, if you have something that will be of real value to say about this tourism company...something which is pertinent, and will further the existing conversation, than by all means, go for it.

You may have really brainstorm here. Of course, newlyweds go on vacation so that's a logical segue.

But...I implore you. Be like the Fonz...and how's the Fonz? He's cool. That's right. Be cool.

First, you'll need to figure out what makes your clients unique amongst all the other high-end offerings. Next, figure out exactly who you're trying to connect with (age, location, etc.). With this minimal marketing strategy, you can begin to find lots of ways to get your clients in front of your target market, not for a sales sake, but to offer them something of true value.

As for blogs, it's certainly worth a try. However, the blogs that you write to/for should be targeted for your prospects, otherwise you'll be wasting everyone's time.

What would be better, is if you have some very happy clients, ask them to thank you by posting their stories on blogs. A testimonial story is much better than a sales-type message.

I'd suggest finding the blogs you want to target first and determining an individualized approach from there, especially if you want a feature. Alltop has a feed collection for weddings that might be a good place to start. Some blogs might even have sections for honeymoon suggestions.

Instead of offering copy about the client directly, perhaps craft articles about what to look for in a high-end honeymoon, or comparing the beach to the mountains or some such and refer to your client as one of the providers for these honeymoons.

Replying to existing blogs is unlikely to be an effective a strategy unless the comments link back to a blog and you have some time for slow readership growth to that blog.

As alluded to here, you must be completely transparent about who you are when replying to blogs and contacting bloggers. Try to seed a blog and they'll just find you out and roast you.

You might also consider sending some schwag (logo stuff) to the targeted bloggers in a nice package that includes background information. I would do this after introducing yourself. Contacting bloggers is similar to a PR plan for contacting journalists. Build a relationship and offer them valuable information. Don't give them information unless it's totally relevant to their blog.
