Help! Need Marketing Diagram

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi Folks~

I am looking for a way to "diagram" or visually define marketing to my clients. I want to include everything from a broad overall definition to the 4p's, to promotional mix, branding, research & development, etc..etc...Basically, if you took everything associated with marketing, catagorized it and put in on a piece of paper.

I can create this on my own, but there must be something out there already. Does anyone know of such a diagram?

Thanks!

Absolutely! Pragmatic Marketing has one of the best most comprehensive diagrams ever. Page 21 of their ebook on the Strategic Role of Product Management https://www.pragmaticmarketing.com/strategic-role-of-product-management/Str... has a pretty good representation of it.

I use this whenever I hire marketing candidates. I ask them to show me which of the boxes represent their strengths. (I am really impressed when a candidate already has it with them!) I also use it when I talk about my team to other execs within the organization.

I also highly recommend their courses!

    All the best!

You've just pretty much described a marketing plan, although I notice you include "Marketing Plan" as well under Strategic Planning. The only major section that's missing from your outline that is frequently in a Marketing Plan is the Situation Analysis (analysis of the current micro- and macro-environment). Also, as you undoubtedly know, many marketing plans also include a media section with an overall description of proposed branding activities and the types of advertising, and their placements.

There are tons of free marketing plan samples online. There is also marketing plan software for sale into which you type the content and then the software spits out the plan. I don't see any cost-effective utility to doing that if you already know how to create a marketing plan.

What exactly do you do and how do you plan to use this diagram you mention? Perhaps that will give us more information to understand what you're seeking. I hope you charge a lot of money for what is undoubtedly a good amount of work and information you provide in your document. What you describe is a lot more than a typical marketing proposal.

Instead of words, I'd suggest images (or icons) to show the marketing components. Easier to scan (and more interesting).

Here is a different way to show the elements of marketing (although it's slanted towards brand evolution, it includes a wide range of terms): https://www.kolbrenerusa.com/elements.htm
