Standardized Staff Resumes For Use In Proposals?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Our consulting company frequently includes staff and contractor resumes in proposals delivered to prospects. As with any resume, there are noticeable differences in formatting and style which is not the best way to present our team credentials. Does anyone have a template they use for something like this? Besides the usual employment history data, we also need to capture certifications and technical expertise...and it all needs to be flexible so that we can customize it by proposal. Love to hear your ideas. Thanks.

That's a great question and I'd like to see what others come up with as well.

As for me, I ended up having the consulting team give me their standard resumes, plus I had my team interview them to uncover the interesting stuff about their careers, and then we put them into PowerPoint.

PowerPoint made it easier for us to make the consultant's experience come alive. For example, we could include things like customer pictures when we focused on their successes. Plus it gave the sales team something they could use

    All the best!

I think I would go along the direction of what Melissa said - not put actual resumes in, but instead provide much shorter blurbs about each employee. Just a paragraph or two. Kind of like the executive bios you often see on web sites.

    Hi, mktgalexandria!

When I create proposals for global consulting firms to submit to their targets, the style used for the team section varies depending on the client targeted and/or RFP guidelines.

    Some layouts used are:

One page resumes written to highlight each person's relevant knowledge and experience that can be applied to the client's project, or

One or two paragraph summaries per person, or

Five or six bullet points for each team member.

The proposal section name also varies -- Team Profiles, Team Credentials, Team Experience or Our Team are some common headings. The important thing is to be consistent for each of the team members -- all will have photos or all bios will have the same type of information (experience, degrees, sample project list, etc.) and the people's information will be presented in the same format.

Sometimes the proposal will have the longer resume and the subsequent sales meeting brochures or PowerPoint presentations will have a one paragraph blurb or six bullet points per team member.

Hope this is helpful. If you want to contact me offboard, see my profile.
