Generating Referrals For A Home Based Spa

I have a spa in my home and do facials, massage, waxing, pedicures & manicures). Because I work out of my home which is a condo, I have to be careful how I get clients as I don't want strangers coming into my home unless they are referred or I've met them somehow.

What kind of fun ideas could I put together to get clients excited about referring new people?

I've done all the usual 'free treatments for X amount of referrals' and discounts for referrals, but I'm looking for something fun......I have a website and monthly e-mail special too.

    How about a 2 for 1 deal for clients that bring a friend (who is not a current client)? This would be a less threatening way for people to meet you and try your services first hand. This gives people a comfort level as their friend is there to. If you are doing a good job these firends will be likely to become clients. You could even then offer a discount for the friends first solo visit. For my wife I know part of the fun of a spa visit is going with a friend and spending time with them.

    Why not offer a spa party? Go to someone else's home (where people are gathered) for the bridal, back-to-school, book club, or Red Hat society.

    you could even offer the membership and on weekeneds give free hours and more of it. so that you could be able to draw their attention.

    moreover; you can offer the drinks like cocktail, pinacolada n etc..

    Hi, another exciting is to come up with a major prize such as a free hotel accomodation or free local flight. The way it works is that one referral would generate one raffle ticket. Every month, you can have a monthly draw. You can ask hotels if they sponsor a one night stay. You can also get free flights from a travel agency in exchange for the use of their name on the contest. Other major prize on your mind will do.

    Another idea is that you can give one invitation card to each of your client. The card will contain a free service of any choice which will be used by the referrals. Each client can only ask for one invitation card at a time. They can ask for another invitation card only after the referred person has arrived for service.

    As you live in a condo, you could conduct a promotion exclusive to the owners or renters, together with a friend or partner.

    Also are there local businesses that you know and could approach to offer a treatment for their regular customers, eg. florists, hairdressing salons.

    Hi, as you can observed from the different responses. The main idea is to create excitement by using the element of surprise and suspense. Surprise in a sense that they are going to win prizes. Suspense in a sense that they are anticipating the next "gimmick" that you will promote. If you can have different ideas all the time, it will add excitement in your spa business and at the same time, you will develop a positive attitude towards new and untested ideas. Good luck.

    Jay's suggestion of a party can still be an option for you. You don't have to change your personality, just find a way to work within your comfort zone.

    Ask a trusted and greagarious friend to work with you at these events. This gives you the chance to work one on one with the clients while your friend can mingle and talk about your treatments.
