Best Way To Get At Multiple Go-to Execs At Once...

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hey marketing gurus,

I own a Christian lifestyle (emphasis, lifestyle) magazine that circulates in 100+ locations throughout Baton Rouge, LA as well as Houston, Texas. We are unlike the image that most have when thinking of Christian-based publications. As a matter of fact, our slogan is "Redefine Christian Lifestyle". Anyway, I personally handle almost all of our cold-calling and sales lead generation and I'm wondering... What is the best method of getting my sales material out to multiple decision makers at once?

P.S. I have already thought of crashing networking meetings and handing out my mag and literature as well as hosting invitation only events and sending invites out to only business owners (with guest). But what else - maybe more creative?

Well it depends on your definition of "redefine". That will determine what churches might allow you to distribute your magazine.

The same could be said of Christian schools in the area.

You could also go side-by-side with the magazines in the lobby of your local Chick-Fil-A.

Any business that distributes the Shepherd's Guide would also be a good place to start.

Well, these are good, but think more along these lines - we're a free to the public mag and I want to get in the faces of business decision makers so they will buy ads from me as that's the main way we make revenue. What's the best ways for me to get a lot of them to view what we have to offer at one time without spending a bunch of money to get with them individually (i.e. direct mail, etc.)

One more point to add: I really like the responses you guys are giving, but take it home now and I'll close this question. What ideas can I employ in lieu of crashing networking meetings and similar overly-aggressive tactics? I mean, that response from W.M.M.A. was incredibly insightful and Phil's answer was the closest to what I'm looking for in the way of method, but with all the marketing brains here, I really want to come away the best ways to reach out to my target prospects. Please bear in mind, we are starter and I am currently spending hand over fist just to get published and promoted to the general public/ readers. I need ways to get the revenue in so I can begin to spend more money in the ways that aren't cost-effective in order to better promote. Baby Steps, I guess is the best term for it. Fire away and like I said, great job, so far, guys!

Taking Randall's suggestion backwards - if Lakewood Church has many CEOs and Senior Managers, then advertise in their church newsletter.

Also, consider teaming up with organizations such as International Fellowship of Christian Businessmen (https://ifcb.org) or Business Men's Fellowship (https://www.bmfusa.com) to find the people you're looking for more directly.
