Where To Find Good Business Directories? (like Yp)

I would like to ask if anyone knows where it would be possible to find good business directories? Businesses (shops, companies, sole proprietorships) listed in appropriate categories, with their contact details? It should be provided in a usable format that is easyly imported and manipulated. Online versions of Y.P. are basically useless because it would take ages to complete a single category.
What we need is something like Yellow Pages, for the US, Russia, Italy, UK and possibly some other countries. I have already tried AmCham but they didn't really understand what we are looking for and we've had no luck with the Russians also.
In Croatia you can buy a cd with the most current info on the companies with their contact details, updated every 6mo or so, and its not really expensive.
Any info is greatly appreciated.
