As A Realtor, How Can I Increase My Inventory?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
We have thousands of buyers and not enough inventory. My need is to come up with a strategy that will allow me to capture more sellers. I have tried marketing a lead generation system for sellers online with little success. I have also been diligent about following up with past customers. I need something that is creative and will get home owners to jump at my services.

Call me old-fashioned, but I think we're still a long ways off from homeowners using the Web to find Realtors to sell their homes. That doesn't mean that you can't find a few here and there, but I don't think it will be the sort of volume that you're looking for from the effort.

People like to use the Web to find houses to buy because it's private, and some people don't want to deal with a salesperson until they are really ready to buy. However, the process of selecting a Realtor to sell what is likely the person's most valuable asset is still, at least in my mind, very high-touch and personal. It also seems to require a lot of traditional marketing, advertising, and good old-fashioned networking.

I look forward to reading other replies to this question, but my feeling is that it's hard to beat the old "farming" system where you really bombard a select group of neighborhoods and hope to become known as the "Realtor of Choice" among the residents.

Mitch, try the link to the Search Questions feature on the right side of this page, then try using the keywords "real estate" or "realtor." I think there have been at least a couple of questions similar to yours, so you might find some useful ideas in those Q&A threads.
