Well, let's start with your business plan and what you want to accomplish. Who is your primary target audience? What is their most important unmet need? Does your product or service satisfy that need? If so, then you have the makings of a good business ... provided you have the resources to market it effectively.

The very general question you ask has a thousand possible answers. The chances we'd be able to guess the right one for you is very slim. Try giving us more details and we'll try to help you.

If you're concerned about going public with your information, you might want to ask your question of the experts at 911 Marketing Help. It's a private forum with several of the experts from the Know How Exchange. There's a modest charge for the service, guaranteed fast turn-around, and your satisfaction is guaranteed.

it's for web design, I've done a lot of political websites. But I want to concentrate on people/ businesses that can't afford $30,000 but still want a great website or application at a decent price.

    Wow, aim high!

Pick up a pone and start calling every business in te Yellow pages. If that gets too tedius, try a newpsper ad. Then after that, perhpas google key words. Try anything and record which effort works best (brings most sales). Then narrow down the list over the few years of what isn;t working, and concentrate on what is working.

First, you'll need to match what you think of as a decent price with potential client niches. That will help ensure you have a price match. Next, if someone has already invested in website, why should they change to you (i.e., why should they trust you to produce a website that produces more leads/conversions for them)?

Once you've answered these basic strategy questions, you can start networking (or looking for businesses that meet your criteria).

Who have you done these past sites for? Make sure you let them know that you are looking for more work. Political organizations often have a large network and can get you hooled up with people looking for a designer.

I have done a few websites and all of my work comes from people seeing other sites I have done. You really need to monopolize on past work you have done. Do you have a site with a portfolio of work that people can check out. Do you include a link to you on all of the sites you have done?

Also consider doing networking. Meet groups of people, visit events, ask your existing clients to invite you to their networks. Just start talking about what you want to achieve and what your vision is.
