Ideas On How To Market Brownies To College Student

Posted by errollf on 500 Points
Hi to All,
I make homemade Brownies from home and people just love them, so I need ideas on how to market these Brownies to college students. If you are a chocolate lover then these Brownies are for you. I can get to some of the local colleges in my area but how can I get the students to buy them and continue to want more.

go to the college website. Search for student groups (sometimes its in the campus life section) and you'll find out when they meet.

Helps if you have some connection, i.e., you are Vietnamese and it's the Vietnamese Student Association. Or you're a softball coach or or or or.....

You can also go to the campus center and ask permission to sell out right.....again, connections.

Another option is to find some student groups that would like to sell some of these brownies as a fundrasier. Allow them to keep some portion of the sale.

Another place to try would be some of the college dorms. See if there is any way you could sell them in the dorms. Make it easy for them to get their chocolate fix. Maybe it is something Resident Assistants (RAs) could sell.

Make sure that your brownies are being produced in a commercial (licensed) kitchen, and that you have the proper legal framework (including insurance) for your company. It only takes one customer that gets sick to cause a major financial headache for you (college student or not).

Jay brings up essential points to consider if you are attempting to sell your products commercially - check on retail sales tax permits too if that is necessary in your state.

A really good idea from a former community in which I lived - there was a church group that baked cookies or cakes, or cupcakes or something and delivered them to the students on their birthdays - paid for by the student's parents. In that community a circular was put together by the Chamber of Commerce and mailed by the college to their incoming freshmen annually that told them (and their parents) about various community services.

    Good Luck (and Merry Christmas)!

    Send Brownies!
