Essay Question On Strategic Direction Of A Company

Hello all the potential prof, I have a problem with this question. I m having an exam coming up soon and this question kind of bothers me.
"What are some of the key forces influencing strategic direction in an organisation?"
can the answer be like the company's mission,vision,its budget?
