New Business Owners

Quick question...

WHat have you found to be the most reliable source of new business owner information? I'm looking for: phone, name of business, mailing address.

I purchased information from 2 seperate sources so far, and found the info not quite as fresh as promised.

Next, I contacted 4 local city halls, and found one which punlished the info online (business license info) but no indicators as to whether the license was for new businesses, or renewals. After turning it over to my marketer, seems he found 90% were renewals, and the list was a waste of time trying to call, call again, and then again just to find out they are not a new business... haha

So with that said, any recommendations?

infousa! If there is a target type of biz you are looking for, they'll break that down for you too.

[State] Manufacturers Directory. FREE at your local library. Ask at reference desk.

Harris also has a good one for each state.

I've used InfoUSA as well and have been happy with the results of my programs. You may not get a comprehensive list of NEW businesses, but you will be able to target your TARGET businesses. For residents, you'll always get returns because we're a mobile society.

The only other sources of new business info I can think of are trade associations and local chambers of commerce. New businesses will join trade associations to validate themselves with their customers as a trusted source. You can also purchase lists from chambers of commerce if you are a member. Other than that, scouring news materials and locating new business through their own advertising and articles about them will work as well but it's time intensive. New business licenses are often printed in local news section under "NEW BUSINESS LICENSES," but as you said, some are license renewals.

    Hello,

There are two sources for this information I can recommend since i use to work for a compiler of this information.

The Lead Sheets which is owned by Infousa and market Force.

The lists are not 100% coverage of the USA. They are compiled from county court houses. These are New Business filings. Many of the businesses can be home based and some of the others just reg a name but never actually form a business.

Stay away from compilers who get there information from New yellow book ads because most are already established businesses.

Both sources above have there +'s and -'s but they are the only game in town unless you go to the court house your self.

Send me an email with the details and I can hove counts run for you. I am a list broker so you will be paying the same as if you went direct. There are certain ways to select this information that can improve performance.

    Thank you
    Tom
