Canning A Baked Bean Recipe

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am in the process of trying to figure out how to go about safely "canning" a baked bean recipe of mine to sell first at farmers markets, and then possibly to small retail stores. Any ideas of how to do this process? I've thought about processing by sterilizing the jars and processing in a boiling water bath but am not sure if this is the way to go.

It's good that you're planning to start small and learn as you go. A lot of people start thinking about national distribution and big advertising and promotion budgets before they even know what's going to be involved.

Unfortunately, the manufacturing process (small though it may be) isn't something we do around here. We are marketers. Unless you just happen to find a marketer here who has done some canning, you're probably asking the wrong people.

When you solve your manufacturing issue, come back and we'll help you with the marketing plan!

    True,

We can help you with getting to market.

I would suggest you go to some markets and ask people who have canned products what they are doing.

You'll need to buy something from them to get their attention tho.
