Online Survey Tool - Complex Questions

Posted by annj on 250 Points
I need an online survey tool which will allow 'intelligent' questionning - not just skip to the next relevant question but also a sort of dynamic dependency routing:
eg if someone selects option A from Q1, they get a restricted / different subset of options for question 2 than if they'd selected option B.
Any experiences out there?
btw, used Survey Monkey in the past and don't believe it can do this but I may be wrong.

    Hi Annj,

I can only speak for our tool. But to do this you can use the following options in SurveyGizmo:

    1) Show/Hide for question dependency. So if they select Option A in question 1, the next relevant question appears as question 2 under it on the same page.

    2) Show When rules: Similar to #1 except between pages (though not page jumping -- each question using this logic makes it own choice when to appear)

    3) Option Piping: User selects 5 items form a check list on question 1, then is asked to rank those 5 (and just those five) or select their favorite, or assign %s to those options.

    4) Above and beyond that we have a 'script' control that lets you give the survey specific commands such as remove options or add options to questions dynamically. Most people don't have to use this, but it's always an option if you wanted to go above and beyond in tailoring your survey.

Additionally we have professional services to help you program these if you are on a tight deadline. (Of course you can use all these yourself too -- we have tutorials).

These work for simple questions and table/matrix questions.

Feel free to take a look at our tool. https://www.surveygizmo.com

Another tool to look at is Question Pro. They have some advanced options too.

NuCoPro - i think Ann is looking for a way to do this without using page skip logic. Which is what most survey tools offer. Though you can absolutely do complex things with it.

I saw a gentleman create a 200 page survey once using page skip logic for this kind of dependency. That survey blew my mind. Especially the fact that people answered it!

The nice thing about smart questions though is that you can do that type of thin in a fraction of the time and in far fewer pages.

    Good luck, Ann!

    You can also try ztelligence:

Also, there is a company called Click Tools, which has a survey/analytics package that integrates with CRM:

I’ve just placed an order for SurveyGizmo Pro and having used both free software and very expensive software, I think that it is one of the best tools I have encountered. The potential to use advanced logic on the survey form, coupled to a robust API which can create links to your own CRM system is part of an excellent set of features.

Sorry this came in after your closed the question but I was busy creating our first surveys and hadn’t read your question until it was too late.
