Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I'm about to write my first ever blog to send out to my database of potential clients to entice them to sign-up for my personal training service.

I heard that by sending a link to your blog page is better than direct advertising by email!

What tips can you pass on to make a good first impact in writing a blog?

    Write in a conversational voice.
Make it worth their time to read it (i.e., don't make it about selling your stuff).
Make it easy to scan quickly.
Make it have a clear benefit to reading it.

And be patient. Few people sign up for anything on the first read. They need to get to know/trust you and your offerings.

Deliver high value in your blog. Don't focus on the business you'll generate, but rather on how much you can GIVE your target audience. If you do that well, people will find you.

And don't be in a hurry. It could take months before you see any results from your blog. People will need to gain some confidence in you, try some of what you suggest, learn enough to appreciate what you're saying, etc. That all takes time.

Good luck, Paul. Let us know how it goes.
