Sponsorship For Mongol Rally Charity Adventure

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
This July 18th Stuart Fisher and I (Dan Lacey) are going on the Mongol Rally, this is a charity adventure through Europe and central Asia to Mongolia. We are doing this for two great charities MercyCorps and Christina Noble Children's Foundation. The problem we are facing is lack of sponsorship, we have spent about £2000 ourselves so far and our pockets are pretty dry. We need about £3000 to pay for visas insurance and petrol, we are happy to raise the charity money and we have until September for that. But the money for visas we need by 17th April (2009), which only gives us two weeks. I am a graphic designer and Stu is a freelance photographer, so we would like to offer to put logos on our car, design posters or virals along the way, or collect footage for a TV ad, help in producing a microsite or dot mobi site, work with anybody and what they’d need for a marketing campaign etc. Though we do need money and we do need it urgently, if anybody has any ideas, leads or suggestions, or you, yourself can aid us please contact me.

First, consider what organizations have helped sponsor cars in previous rallys. Now, see which of these have not yet sponsored this year.

Offer to see your car advertising by the square inch, similar to https://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/
Make the price per square inch rediculously inexpensive, and create a website that shows all the ads currently taken.

    Dan,
Check with the embassy or tourism office. They may have some cash to kick in and ideas on how to promote it.

yeah that could be an option, just had a quick look do you mean the embassy or tourism office for the uk or ones for each country that we'd go through etc. This damn recession has tightened everyones wallets and we're not getting very far regarding sponsorship so any thoughts ideas are helpful...

    Dan,
The Mongol tourism office. They already have cash and they are looking for GOOD places to spend it.
