Conference And Incentive Tour Operator Strategy

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
Hi,

I work for an incoming tour operator in Ireland. We are pushing one of our brands, being Conference and Incentives. So basically i need to attract foreign companies thinking about having a conference in Ireland. Our main market is in France. I really dont know where to start. Please help.

Thanks

Dave.

Start with the either the travel manager or international sales manager at each company. You can work from any list you have.

ASk them if they are planning a conference in Ireland. Then talk about your services.

Sorry, just in a bit of a panic, I should have mentioned the process. We do not have any contact with the end user, a company in France for example will contact a local agent who in turn will contact us to arrange the conference and activities. so basically we should be marketing to DMC's and travel agents on the ground in the country the company is from.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but how about hosting a familiarization tour? I'm not sure if you already know what these are, so I'll explain just in case.

Usually familiarization ("fam") tours are put on by a convention and visitors bureau, but you could also run one yourself. I would recommend you only invite top prospects because of the expense and work involved. You would offer them a free tour of Ireland. You can partner with hotels and airlines to offer free or heavily discounted rates. During the tour, you can show them some of the nice conference facilities and special event venues.

If a fam tour is beyond your budget, you could instead host an Ireland-themed event or dinner in Ireland. Use this as a showcase for all the unique advantages you can offer them.

I can help you more if we can communicate directly. Click on my name and you'll get my e-mail info. I have plenty of contacts in the US. Not so many in the EU.
