Ideas For Celebrating First Year In Business

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am looking for ideas in how to celebrate my first year in business.

I want to get past old hat like customer appreciation day and anniversary sale. The business is a Boutique which caters to plus sized women.

I am thinking something contemporary and fresh.

Makeover Day: Have your customers bring in a few pieces of their favorite clothing. You bring in makeup, hair, etc. consultants. People schedule 15 minutes with each professional, and get recommendations/ideas for enhancing their look. Of course, you'll be showing people how to accessorize or update their favorite clothing (or show them something else that could work for their personal style).

It's not clear (a) why your anniversary is an occasion to discount your merchandise, or (b) why a celebration should involve customers.

You are the one who should celebrate. Go out to dinner, or buy yourself something you've been dying to have. And congratulations on making through your first year.

Now, if you want/need a promotion or event to stimulate sales short-term, that's a different matter. Do you have a marketing plan?

Unless you're sensitive to your pricing (too high?), non-price promotions are often better than price-oriented promotions. Something like a free gift with purchase might stimulate sales more than cutting price or offering a temporary discount. Of course, this depends on your customers, your competition, and your own objectives, strategies, and plans.

Start by examining your objectives. Then determine the strategies and plans that will best accomplish them. Celebrating an anniversary by cutting into your margins doesn't sound like a great celebration for you. At least not from where I sit.
