Twit often expressing your professional persona in as many creative ways as possible, follow people who match the substance and tone of your personal persona, and include links (links to photos and videos are great) directly related to your twits providing your followers with a more satisfying experience.

1- First you have to have followers. So work on that. Find them on Twitter and invite your other contacts to join you.
2- Post useful information. No body really cares if you are drinking coffee. Links to information, ideas and the like work best.
3- Take care about how much you post. Some people post 10 times in a row. I just stop following anybody who does this. If you have to post multiple time spread them out.
4- It takes time to get followers. Just because Ashton and CNN can get 1 million followers, doesn't mean you can. Both have brands that have spread millions on other media to gain their following.

Agree with Harry Hallman. Try to get more followers. DIfferent interest between them might also help you out. Beside that, you can link your blog and website together with twitter to get more traffic.
