Salon Trying To Keep Money From Leaving

Mar-Lanna's Hair Studio again:

I recently posted a question & really got great advice on how 2 expand the business for my salon.

I've ran into a dilemma & I need your help & advice.

I opened a salon a little over a year ago & business has been pretty good. BUT, I have stylist in the salon that have different prices for services.

Example: I have one stylist that charge $250 - $500 for a certain style that lasts up to 4 months & another stylist who does the same style even better for $150 - $300.

Problem: the stylist that charges the most has a chair at the front of the salon therefore she gets to tell her price 2 walkins first. When they hear her prices they walkout. I feel it would look bad if I tell the walkin that another stylist could do it cheaper b4 they leave the salon. How do I put a stop to this without offending anybody? I want everyone that work in my salon to be successful & I hate to see money walk out the door knowing that there is a better price inside the salon.

My first thought was to have a meeting about this issue. Please help me!!

Why not have a price book for the salon? Each stylist creates their own page describing their services and prices.

Jay's right. It's either that, standardizing your prices or moving your less expensive stylists to the front.

The salon I go to rotate's the stylists' chairs every so often. What if you did this so that each stylist would have a chance to sell to the walk-ins? You could also post some signage indicating that the salon offers different pice points based on the stylists' experience so that people know they have different options when they walk in.
