Importing Kids Toys

Hello,

I want to start a toy importing business. I need help with how to go about getting the products in major stores, what are some selling technics I should use? Are there any books that you could recomend that I should read for this business? What about attending trade shows? Is that a good idea?

    First, being around toys...don't concern yourself with major retailers. You must be a destination vendor for those retailers market share. Three retailers encompass 70%+ of total toy retail sales.
    Second...AnnaG is correct, especially her #1. In fact do #1 several times.
    Third...if your research indicates a need/want; make sure this market is large enough to support all the effort that will be needed.
    Fourth...though the Toy Show, as all trade shows are not what they used to be, at least attending will give you a feel for the 'market'.
    Fifth...80% of what you intend to sell will be to Mom's, not kids. Make sure she likes the product also.
    Sixth...in my world there is a phrase "grandma bait" meaning it is for the grandkids...may be a good place to begin process, grandma has money, kinda' recessionary proof when it comes to the grandkids
