Need Tekkie Help With Project

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I need to figure out the best and most economical way to record telephone conversations to later put them on CD's for sale.

I make calls that I want to record and resell to clients.

Project in Development: Telemarketing training. Recording the conversation, put on CD and listen back for training purposes and sale.

Who knows the best way to do this?

    Randall,
I would be happy to help you. I do this kind of thing all the time.

    Randall --

    I use a service (how / why it's free I don't know but it is) called: www.freeconferencecall.com.

I've used it for several years. Good quality recording. Unlimited callers allowed. And, when the call is done, I can download the call as an MP3 file.

I import that MP3 into iTunes and can use that file to 'burn' it to a CD.

Or, if you're so inclined, open the file in Garageband (or, equivalent) and throw some bumper music at the front and back end and you've got yourself a really nice audio ready to for sale and distribution.

Hope that helps. If you need more input, like Frank, I'll be happy to help you as well.

    Dear Randall,

I'm sure Frank's experience is far more wide reaching than mine on this subject, but here are a few resources you might find valuable.

It's worth noting that many teleseminar recording companies offer transcription services.

Set the transcribed call out as an 8.5" x 11" report, add some decent looking graphics, some charts, illustrations, and quotations, save it as a PDF, and you have an extra aspect of your potential product that adds to the perceived value of the total product. Which means you can charge more for it, making it worth the extra outlay.

For CD duplication services I've heard good things from an associate about about Disc Makers:

    www.discmakers.com/ -

You'll find free, good quality audio recording software (for Mac and PC) here www.audacity.sourceforge.net/ -

You'll find seminar recording information on the following:

    https://www2.gotomeeting.com:443/tgw/gg/webinar-Broad/NAPPC/g2w_semlp?Porta...

    https://www.ehow.com/how_2257947_record-webinars.html

    https://famguardian.org/Subjects/PropertyPrivacy/Articles/TelephoneRecordin...

    https://www.callcorder.com/phone-recording-law.htm

    https://www.recordmycalls.com/demo.jsp?

    https://www.how-to-capture-streaming-media.com/record_webinars/record_webin...

    https://www.recordedmoments.com/

It's also worth considering the legal aspects of recording telephone calls. Permissions and disclosures and all that.

I hope this helps and I'd be interested in hearing how you make out with your project.

are you sure this is legal?

I have not looked at the law lately, but the last time I looked, it was illegal to record an interstate telephone call without either informing the person the call was being recorded, or having an audio beep on the line.

The last time I checked, the recording of conference calls was a gray area, since there is less expectation of privacy.

    Dear Randall

Please forgive me for citing only 1% of your web offering – it rang untrue and the rest was probably true but not in my business area.

Firstly let’s look at the legality of doing this. All banks, investment houses, insurers and many operators record their telephone exchange preamble dialogue with the user. Most of my City types of clients make great use of this. You are no different in law.

The recipient of a call gets the message “Calls nay be recorded to improve quality control and the resolution of disputes.” No ifs, buts or other prevarications, but you still have to overcome any “Mailshot Paranoia”:

The call then goes as follows:

“May I respectfully ask you these questions you downloaded provide a useful basis for further communications? I will put them anonymously onto my website because they are fascinating after which if you receive enquiries in the form of a clarification, you will be given access to all our white papers and application notes”

If you are attracting people from a mailshot rather than an announcement, to this patter can be incorporated into any pre-call literature or presentations you send the client.

If you don’t do that, you have to use the beach trial where all of you have to do is to mention the fact that your systems are monitored for quality control, staff training and for problem resolution. Let’s face it, all banks and investment houses state this caveat as soon as you ring their switchboard. Depending on your business circumstances you might need to announce that, but as you don’t necessarily know the operator, he / she will hold fire so as not to spook the boss. I have added some of the hurdles encountered in your disciplines where success or dedicated failure can reap rewards.

Prospect’s agent’s bythely disregard the permission and do their own thing. They might keep a record to work out a strategy to the prospect, or keep the lead in case they transgress the use of polite language. In essence, you can make the prospect feel good about the fact that if they are pissed off around and over their call they can phone you to resolve the situation. And apart from your hectic day, there is nothing stopping you from following up a wadge of leads, just to see what happens!

When you have established contact (In-bound and outbound) then you can get on top of the problem with hard evidence on your records. All business and merchant banks do likewise and you can ask them to turn off the recording system if they do not require the assurance of a confidential record which would enhance their arguments in the unlikely event of them needing to complain or sue should you not have met the client’s needs

Regardless of the USA law, we have a similar one over here and the solutions, Is to demonstrate the professional work we carry out on behalf of clients which in turn leads to a satisfied client or a reassured prospect and has the basis to provide the information and advice so that they need If in the unlikely that an event that it is necessary for them to complain, them they can take their requirement to someone in Alaska or Ulan Bator or the ASI!

Lastly the recording media you asked for. I use NCR software for this purpose

    https://www.nch.com.au/pbx/index.html

I think that it is one of the best; it easy to set up and easy to maintain and inexpensive-you only need to keep and use the telephone packages, I’ve tried several others but after about a day they start to gum up the CPU and I have to dismiss them and re-start using one utility an managing my CPU load to kill things.

Largely, it works though I’m pleased to say that I use its telephone and microphone capabilities to expose lying clients!!! They are mainly CRM relations who spiel incorporates Teutonic bullshit and misses out by a mile over what we do which is to talk to people on the phone and to use novel outbound emails with inbound auto responders which tell the prospects that I am in the house of Commons or more likely the House of Lords. Whatever, from the crappiest enquiry we get something out of it.

With recording inbound calls; It can prove a benefit. Use it as a benefit from your organisation – you can’t make notes about the nuances of your clients before they commit to your services, but sure as (sh*t) you can borrow the ideas of Jung or Freud and the site allows you to ask about things which you may be rusty on some things – such as Bayesian Statistics.

Once you have gathered your leads which should then be rather hot. The enquirers should be really tuned on by the tone of your literature; they should be both pleased by your responses and probably impressed by your solutions. A from basics case of population growth it useful to your question as long as you do not iterate it and your ability to dismiss the concept of black magic fro the archeologically members of the team should open their minds to your discussions and suggestions.

If this doesn’t work, you being you can offer another incentive to sign up with the visitation of 200 hairy bikers to act as persuaders for your campaign!!!

    Best wishes

    Steve

PS I’m doing the Bayesian breakdown for another MP member to whom you courteously explained that his question sounded like homework. His problem and common with yours is that he doesn’t actually know how to propose the problem and offer his ideas on the basic maths. It’s good to see that you are not falling into that trap – better to be an attendant Lord and then simply observe the slaughtered the pages who come up this total crap in the hope favours from the Master”

please be careful... many of the posts above are referring to inbound calls and not outbound calls.

based on what I am reading today, United States federal law allows taping of a conversation for personal use as long as one person on the line is aware of it. However, 12 states (including Maryland and California) require consent of both parties.

(You might remember that Linda Tripp went to jail for secretly recording conversations with Monica Lewinsky).

I am not an attorney, but I'm pretty sure that even if it is okay to tape record conversations without the knowledge of the recipient, you will probably want to have written permission from the phone call recipient before you distribute this information.

Re: technologies to tape record calls, if that were me, and I was intending to sell the product, I would prefer a high quality recording to the cheapest or easiest recording. There are devices which connect directly to the phone line which will produce a very high quality reporting.
