Offering Discounts To Facebook Fans

Posted by IamRobin on 125 Points
Hello,

I have my first retail client, a new eco-friendly tshirt company, and we're trying to boost fans on Facebook. The client is willing to offer FB fans a discount. So, I'm thinking of starting with a 10% pre-holiday promo for purchases before Oct 31. But I'm not exactly sure where on our FB page I should post the discount. I don't see any settings that would allow only fans to see a specific type of app. But I'm not a Facebook expert.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
~Robin

    Hi Robin,

    You have following options

    1. Post in Group Wall - Only fans can see this

    2. Use applications like wildfire - You can track the performance of the campaign - https://www.wildfireapp.com/tour/create

    3. Social ads - Run a campaign in Facebook and customize your ad based on TG demographics.

    Thanks,

If you have a Fan Page you can message all of them at the same time. Do this every couple of weeks.

Also add it to the info section.

Post it as a status update every week.

Create an image and post as and image with text every so often.

Be sure to post other information of interest about ecology so people don't just get the idea you are only interest in selling them something.

You can ask people to spread the word by getting their friends to become a fan of yours. Perhaps you should donate a portion of your profits to and eco friendly project.

    Hope this helps.

I've checked both logged in and not logged in states and I don't see any differences between the Fan pages.

My client is considering social ads and they do donate a portion of the profits to charity.

I know on a Group page you can send a message to everyone, but I don't see how you do that for a Fan page. Is that a hidden button somewhere or am I just blind?

So, I think we've got lots to talk about, but I'm stuck at 33 fans and hating it!

you have many options in using social media sites to promote t-shirt sales, including sites other than facebook.

But sticking with facebook for now, why not create a youtube account, create a video stating your offer in a fun and entertaining way and then post it on your wall.

    hope this helps,

    Hi Robin!

Ok I know the feeling of only having a few friends and wanting to get some traction for that!

First, have you checked out the Groups on Facebook? There has to be several that are devoted to eco-friendly topics, etc. Becoming active in these groups would only help raise awareness and exposure for your page!

Second, think about what's important to your customers. You point out that your shirts are eco-friendly, so obviously that's a big draw for your customers. So appeal to their desire to help the environment.

Look at what Patagonia does with their social media efforts at The Cleanest Line, or better still, read this interview I did with their blog and website manager - https://moblogsmoproblems.blogspot.com/2009/09/social-media-mavens-intervie...

The point is, tap into those areas that are important to your customers. Instead of offering 10% off, maybe you could have a contest that rewards the person that does the most to help the enivonment? Maybe the winner could be the one that organizes a recycling effort in their community, or something else. The point is, have the customers play off each other and their desire to help the environment.

    Hope that helps!

    Mack,

Thanks for the post. I'm actually going to offer all our Facebook fans 10% off. I will also be doing contests, but those won't be limited to Facebook. My hope was that there was a way to post something to a Facebook company/fan page that was only visible to fans. But that doesn't seem to be possible. At least not from what I've found thus far.

I did find the link to email all our fans in the admin area. So, I might just have to use that.

I'm familiar with Cleanest Line - I love the work they are doing. Helps to have an established brand :D
