Need Help Creating A Display To Sell Custom Bras!

Posted by wendy on 500 Points
My clients sells custom bras at home parties. Basically, someone will host the party and one of the salespeople from the company pitches the product in hopes of selling the bras (and accessories like matching panties, foam wash, bra inserts, etc.) The sales people are called "Fit Specialists". The FS take 10 measurements for each custom bra. This is a start up company that needs a display kit for the home parties. I need help developing what the display would be. Aside from a mannequin displaying one of the bras, what else can I use to make a display engaging, informative and oh..portable for the Fit Specialist to pack and carry easily.

Is this like that sales pitch from Napoleon Dynamite where the older brother moves from selling Tupperware to bust expanding bras?

Before and after pictures of women with ill-fitting then custom fit bras - would have to be the greatest selling aid you could have.

Some women value appearance over comfort. (I cite high heeled shoes to support my case here). If you can make them look better AND feel more comfortable, that's a double whammy.

To make the display engaging and informative, I'd have an adjustable mannequin - something where the total back/chest circumference could be changed to account for different body sizes, and (especially) the bust size could be altered to demonstrate the benefits of customization!

I can think of a few ways to technically mock this up and still make it look natural - but regardless of how executed, it should make for a great demonstrative selling tool.

Why not a video (shown on a laptop)? In addition to showing how the process works, before/after images, and testimonials, why not also show the cost of an ill-fitting bra (not just looks, but ergonomics, and ultimately, health). The same video could be on the company website.

You might want to get your client to help explain the benefit of the custom-fit bras. If there is a "looks better" benefit, then you can show that with before/after photos. (I'm guessing there will be very little or no noticeable difference.) If it's a "comfort" benefit, you'll have to demonstrate specifically why/how it's going to be more comfortable.

My concern is that this is more a gimmick than a real benefit. Most women have already found a bra (or a few different kinds of bras) that satisfy their needs just fine. There is not generally a high level of dissatisfaction with underwear.

For younger women, feeling sexy/feminine/fashionable is usually the most important consideration in selecting a bra or trying a new one. For older women it's comfort/support. Trying to satisfy both groups with a single demo is going to (a) make you crazy, and (b) make sure you sub-optimize for one or both groups.

I was VP-Marketing for Playtex for a few years, so I'm very familiar with the problem. There's nothing like testimonials and before/after shots to sell bras.
