Help With Pricing For A Social Media Service

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
We plan to offer a twittering service for small and medium sized business but need some guidance on how to structure and set the pricing. (Will market both direct to small business and through advertising/pr firms who want to outsource the lengthy engagement that twittering requires.) Right now we are looking at offering two packages, one with 5 tweets per day and another with 10 tweets per day at between $149 - $250 month. Does this pricing structure make sense and sound reasonable?

As far as pricing, search for "Twitter Outsourcing" and do some competitive intelligence to find out what others are charging and how they market themselves.

    Randall,

Thanks for the thoughtful questions. The ONLY way a company will get significant value out of our service is if they use it as a component of a larger social media/marketing strategy. . . Twitter solo probably isn't worth much at all. The idea is to take the most labor intensive part of the execution of the strategy--twitter--and outsource it to us.

We will of course report some standards like # of followers, number of replies, dms, response to trackable promotions.

But the overall value of that service is exactly what I am struggling with. The ROI will be different for each company--it really depends on how well their strategies end up working.

    Thanks,
    Kelly Ann

Besides guaging the results, how will you decide what to tweet? Will you come up with the information yourself or will this be directed by your client? If your client is creating the content, what is the advantage to sending the information to you instead of just posting it directly themselves. Also, how will you handle replying to responses you get to your tweets. If you are acting as a spokesperson for your clients through this aspect of social media, how will you assure clients that you can be trusted with this role?

Just some things to think about...

    RE: Deciding what to tweet
We plan to meet with clients or their agencies to review their content requirements. Then our writer will respond to tweets in the interest area as well as tweeting content that we source daily: offers provided by the client, web links of interest to the clients' customers, etc. The client will have to have an internal point of contact for our writer when we need to respond to direct questions via dm or @.

    RE: Randall/WMMA

I'd like to better understand your position. Is your hesitation the belief that twittering just can't be effectively outsourced in the manner described? That a social media outsourcing effort would need to include all forms of social media? That complete strategies (including traditional media) should be executed by a single party? Or--what I'm fearing--all of these?

Thanks to everyone for the helpful responses!
